I'M MADI.
I'm a registered dietitian, type 1 diabetes expert coach, and a type 1 diabetic myself. I know firsthand what it’s like to navigate blood sugar management while trying to enjoy food.
For years, I avoided ramen and other high-carb meals because they felt impossible to bolus for. No matter what I tried, my blood sugar either skyrocketed or crashed—there was no in-between. I’d watch other people slurp up bowls of noodles without a second thought, while I debated if it was even worth the stress.
But I refused to accept that having diabetes meant missing out on my favorite foods. So, I experimented. I tested different timing strategies, insulin approaches, and adjustments based on ingredients. Eventually, I figured out how to eat ramen without fear—enjoying it while keeping my blood sugar in range.
